Abstract

The spectrum of indium has been photographed in the region 270–2400 Å on 3 and 10.7 m normal-incidence spectrographs. The sources used were a sliding spark and a triggered vacuum spark operated at various conditions. On the basis of these observations all levels of the 4d 85s configuration and the unknown levels in the 4d 85p configuration in In v have been located. The designation of the levels 4d8(³P)5p²P1/20 and 4d8(¹D)5p²P1/20 have been interchanged. The parametric level fitting calculations for the configurations and the intensity calculations for the 4d 85p–4d 85s transitions confirm the analysis. There are 275 additional lines now classified in this spectrum.
