Abstract

The spectroscopic work of H. Rubens and his collaborators began with studies of the near infrared and progressed in steps to the far infrared. During the period from 1892 to 1922, several milestones were reached both in the development of experimental techniques and equipment and in the wide range of problems that were attacked.
