Abstract

The use of the depth coordinate in a stereoscopic system for display of additional information is discussed. We create such artificial stereo pictures from monocular images both with digital and with analog processing systems and compare the two methods. Applications for extraction of the information to be displayed as depth from single images are presented. Furthermore, methods for improvement of the stereoscopic depth perception are indicated.
