Abstract

The simplified explicit expressions derived by Andersen [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 33, 984 (2016) [CrossRef]  ], that relate to angularly symmetric beam splitting by reflection and refraction at an air–dielectric interface recently described by Azzam [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 32, 2436 (2015) [CrossRef]  ], are welcome. A few additional remarks are also included in my reply to Andersen’s comment.
