JOSA A and JOSA B Feature Announcement

Optics in South America

Submission Opens:1 October 2022

Submission Deadline: 1 December 2022

JOSA A and JOSA B are soliciting papers to highlight the tremendous growth of optical research in South America. This feature issue is inspired by how this development has impacted the academic community and local economies, including the expansion of the optical fiber telecommunications systems market. It will provide researchers in South America with the opportunity to share their current work across the whole spectrum of optics, from quantum optics and holography to spectroscopy and integrated photonics, including their research on emerging topics in the field.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Atmospheric and Oceanic Optics
  • Biomedical Optics and Imaging
  • Coherence and Statistical Optics
  • Color, Spectroscopy, and Spectral Imaging
  • Computational Sensing and Imaging
  • Diffraction and Gratings
  • Geometrical Optics
  • Holography
  • Image Processing and Image Analysis
  • Imaging Systems
  • Instrumentation, Measurement, and Metrology
  • Machine Vision
  • Materials and Multiphysics
  • Numerical Methods and Simulation
  • Optics of the Eye
  • Physical Optics
  • Polarization and Ellipsometry
  • Scattering and Propagation
  • Vision, Color Vision, and Psychophysics
  • Advanced Instrumentation and Measurements
  • Fiber Optics and Fiber Lasers
  • Lasers and Other Light Sources from THz to XUV
  • Light-Induced Phenomena
  • Nonlinear and High Field Optics
  • Optical Materials
  • Optics Modes and Structured Light
  • Optomechanics
  • Metamaterials
  • Nanomaterials
  • Photonics and Semiconductor Optics
  • Physical Optics
  • Plasmonics
  • Quantum Optics and Entanglement
  • Quantum Key Distribution
  • Spectroscopy and Atomic or Molecular Optics
  • Superresolution and Advanced Imaging
  • Surface Optics
  • Ultrafast Optical Phenomena
  • Wave Guiding and Optical Confinement

All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review process of the journal. Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual guidelines for submission to JOSA A and JOSA B and must be submitted online through the Prism submission system. When submitting, authors should specify that the manuscript is for the "Optics in South America" feature issue (choose from the drop-down menu).
