Nonlinear fibers with arbitrary nonlinearity

Abstract

Analytical solutions for the fundamental mode of nonlinear fibers with arbitrary nonlinearity are presented, based on a variational technique. Applied to the saturable nonlinearity, the analytical approximations are found to be in good agreement with the numerical solutions.
