Ru i: radiative lifetimes and stellar abundances

Abstract

Radiative lifetimes for 50 odd-parity levels in Ru i are determined using time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence on a Ru atomic beam. The implication of the lifetime measurements for the Ru abundance in red giant stars with an enhanced heavy-element abundance is discussed.
