Abstract

The statistical properties of spikes in the intensity of stimulated Raman scattering and investigated. The number of spikes taking place up to a given moment in time and the distribution of the temporal durations and the amplitudes of the spikes are calculated for the case in which the spikes are initiated by a spatially distributed polarization fluctuation.
