Abstract

The beam tensor introduced by Fedorov in a form that is covariant on the SO(3) group for quasi-monochromatic generalized for polychromatic beams. The transformation law is obtained by means of a two-light is description in the wave plane on the basis of a SU(2) → SO(3) homomorphism. Pauli spin dimensional matrices are used for calculating the refractive indices for propagation in an anisotropic, nonmagnetic, medium. We derive the field propagator and the dependence of the refractive indices tensor on gyrotropic projections of the optical axes onto the wave plane in spinor form.
