Abstract

Optical guiding of high-intensity laser pulses in a long plasma channel formed by a slow capillary discharge is proposed. The obtained plasma channel parameters are studied, and the methods by which they can be controlled are described. Initial results demonstrating guiding in one transverse dimension in such a plasma channel are presented.
