Abstract
We have studied polarization fluctuations in a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser when the stationary state of polarization changes from linear to circular. The asymmetry in the polarization fluctuations, expressed as a ratio of variances of fluctuating Stokes parameters, is observed to decrease from 1.9 to 1. This effect is in accordance with the theoretical prediction.
