Abstract
The spectrum of cesium was recorded in the 300–1240-Å region on a 3-m normal-incidence spectrograph and in the 100–300-Å region on a 10.7-m grazing-incidence spectrograph. The earlier analysis of Cs viii by Kaufman and Sugar [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 4, 1919 (1987)] was confirmed, except for the two levels and and all other, earlier level values were revised. In addition, 12 levels of the the missing levels in the earlier-analyzed and and all levels of the and 11 of the 12 levels of the configurations of the odd-parity configurations have been located. The Hartree–Fock calculations with relativistic corrections and least-squares-fitting calculations were carried out, which helped in the satisfactory interpretation of the spectrum. One hundred ten lines are now classified in this spectrum, of which eighty-six are newly classified lines.
