Abstract

We report the characterization of the second-harmonic response of several types of second-order nonlinear probes, which consist of an optical fiber taper, a single nanowire attached to the taper, and functional second-harmonic micro- or nanocrystals attached to the nanowire. We observed anomalous power dependence in the probe composed of multiwall carbon nanotube (CNT) and BaTiO3 nanocrystals. We attributed this anomaly to the transition of BaTiO3 nanocrystals from the tetragonal to the cubic phase due to the heating of CNT by the ultrashort laser pulses.
