Abstract
We present a thorough study of submillimeter-long optical parametric oscillators (OPOs), also known as sheet-like OPOs. We explain how the phase matching condition can be relaxed to enable ultrawide tuning. Using a theoretical formalism based on integer modal numbers, we derive the conditions for double resonance and predict the emission spectrum of the doubly resonant sheet-like OPO. Our approach allows us to straightforwardly simulate wavelength tuning when changing the pump wavelength, cavity length, and crystal temperature. The calculations are compared with previously reported experimental results.
