Abstract

The effects of an axial static magnetic field on surface and bulk plasmons of a cylindrical electric-gyrotropic (or $\varepsilon$-anisotropic) wire are investigated. Solving a modified Laplace’s equation in conjunction with the appropriate boundary conditions, the dispersion relations, power flows, energy densities, and group velocities are obtained for both types of modes, and some numerical solutions are presented. The effects of external magnetic field on plasmonic properties of the system are analyzed and show significant influence on the behavior of the modes.
