Nonlinear method of searching for unknown fields propagating in an optical waveguide

Abstract

Second-order nonlinear interaction between an unknown field propagating in a thin-film optical waveguide and a high-intensity beam falling from outside is applied to bring out information about frequency, intensity, and type of guided modes as well as about their time-dependence character.
