Abstract
The density dependence of the linewidth of the collisionally narrowed, pure rotational Raman band of CO2 has been measured at 32.7°C or 1.7°C above its critical temperature. Analysis of the results and comparison with other observations indicate that rotational spectra showing collisional narrowing are not sensitive to density fluctuations. The observed spectral asymmetry is discussed.
