Abstract

Equations describing state–state pulses circulating in synchronously pumped dye lasers are solved in terms of Hermite–Gaussian supermodes. Special attention is given to the effect of the parameters of this laser system on the characteristics of the supermodes and on asymmetric pulse shapes. The output criteria, the operating range for the cavity mismatch, and the output gain are also calculated.
