Abstract

The solutions of the Schrödinger equation for an electron in a light field with a spatially nonuniform amplitude are derived. The solutions take into account both the electron oscillations and the acceleration by the ponderomotive force. On that basis the role of a nonuniformity of a strong field in the formation of the electron spectra of above-threshold ionization is discussed.
