Abstract
The infrared emission spectrum of Sb i has been studied in the lead sulfide region. A microwave–excited antimony electrodeless discharge source with argon carrier gas was used. A 1–m Czerny–Turner scanning spectrometer with two different gratings, one blazed for 10 000 Å and the other for 25 000 Å, was employed. A liquid-nitrogen-cooled lead sulfide detector was used with the usual amplifying and recording accessories. Iodine and argon standard lines were used for calibration. The observations resulted in the wavelength measurements of 142 new lines in the region of 10 000–30 000 Å, and, of these, 130 lines are newly classified as transitions among known energy levels. A comparison of the results with those of recent researchers is also presented.
