Abstract

The rotational and vibrational dynamics of the formaldehyde molecule is depicted by means of the asymmetric top mapping, which was previously developed to generalize the Chirikov pendulum. This treatment explains the abundant energy flow in formaldehyde for even modest values of the angular momentum.
