Abstract

A cw analysis is given of second-harmonic generation in a planar uniaxial crystalline waveguide of macroscopic (~1-mm) thickness. Phase-matching constraints require operation in a single high-order waveguide mode at the fundamental frequency. An analysis is given of a method for injecting a Gaussian laser beam into such a mode, using frustrated total internal reflection.
