Analysis of the 5d8–5d76p transitions in Au iv

Abstract

The spectrum of Au was photographed in the 554–850-Å region on a 6.65-m normal-incidence spectrograph at the Zeeman Laboratory and on a 3-m normal-incidence spectrograph at the Antigonish laboratory. The source used was a triggered spark. Eight out of the 9 levels of the 5d8 ground configuration and 64 out of the 110 levels of the 5d76p excited configuration of Au iv have been established; 196 lines have been classified in the spectrum. The least-squares-fitted and Hartree–Fock calculations support the analysis.
