Abstract

This paper discusses the features of a multichannel device that has been developed to record optical radiation in the IR, visible, and UV regions. The efficiency of the device in the diagnosis of high-voltage equipment has been studied on power-engineering installations, as well in laboratory experiments, using as an example the detection of defects of a polymeric insulator. It is shown that the presence of a thermal-vision channel makes it possible to detect a potential defect of the insulator at an early stage of its development before electrical discharges appear. At the same time, when, along with thermal anomalies, electric discharges are detected on the insulator from radiation in the visible and UV regions, it is possible to speak of a developing defect.
