Stimulated emission and tunable gain from Rh2+ ions in RbCaF3 crystals

Abstract

Stimulated emission was detected in RbCaF3:Rh2+ crystals through the observation of power-dependent shortening of the fluorescence lifetime and narrowing of the emission band with a distinct threshold. In addition, singlepass gain was observed to be tunable between about 700 and 720 nm.
