Abstract

A general method is described for the calculation of the solution of the Maxwell equations in stratified anisotropic media in the presence of sources. There are no restrictions imposed on the dielectric tensor. The method combines the advantages of the Green-function and the transfer matrix techniques, and it is well suited for the numerical evaluation of the optical response of nonlinear media.
