Abstract
We analyze a series of techniques for obtaining estimates of the autocorrelation function that can be applied to clipped data. The direct autocorrelation of clipped data is the simplest technique and provides results that are the same as or better than those from other methods. It is also shown that it is not possible to obtain the theoretical autocorrelation function of the signal when clipped data are used.
