Coherence-collapsed 1.3-μm multimode laser diode for the fiber-optic gyroscope

Abstract

Coherence-collapsing feedback applied to a 1.3-μm multimode laser diode is shown to sufficiently decouple the longitudinal modes and broaden their linewidth that the laser becomes suitable for use in a low-drift depolarized fiber-optic gyroscope.
