Heterogeneous condensation of BCl3 in the presence of CO2 laser irradiation

Abstract

Isotope-enrichment experiments were conducted in an attempt to measure the effect of laser excitation on the heterogeneous sticking coefficient of BCl3. Our results indicate that the effect, if any, is very small. This is in contrast to the work of Gochelashvili et al. [Sov. Phys. JETP 43, 274–277 (1976)], who reported an enrichment ratio of α = 1.57 under very similar experimental conditions.
