Optical backpropagation for fiber-optic communications using highly nonlinear fibers

Abstract

A technique to realize an effective negative Kerr nonlinear coefficient using two highly nonlinear fibers is presented. This technique is used compensate the fiber nonlinearity in optical backpropagation.
