Abstract
Two-photon Raman excitation is used to populate selectively vibrational states in CO2 and SF6. The collisional population of 0110, 0220, 0310, 1110, etc. by means of 1000 and 0200 states in CO2 gas is studied by coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy. No population transfer is observed between Fermi-resonant CO2(1000) and CO2(0200) states with the rate constant K ≳ 7 104 sec−1 Torr−1. The lifetime of the SF6(100000) state is found to be τρ ≳ 15 μsec Torr.
