Abstract
Unlike traditional chemical dyes, physical pigments achieve their hues by directly manipulating light waves. This new class of materials can yield brilliant colors across the infrared and visible spectrums and produce striking pearlescent and metallic sheens. Physical pigments are being actively pursued by the printing and packaging industries, for decorative purposes, and in the areas of transportation and security.
