Optica Publishing Group publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed articles in its portfolio of journals, which serve the full breadth of the optics and photonics community.
Optics Continuum (formerly OSA Continuum) is an inclusive, rapid-publication, Open-Access journal, welcoming contributions from the broad optics and photonics community. Optics Continuum publishes research articles meeting Optica Publishing Group's high standards for technical accuracy, scientific rigor, and presentation quality without judgment of impact or significance.
Optics Continuum publishes original research articles, negative results, reproducibility studies, comments and replies. A unique feature of Optics Continuum is the opportunity for authors and reviewers to agree to publish the peer review correspondence (decision letters, reviewer comments, and author response to reviews) associated with an article. This transparent peer review option is a first for Optica Publishing Group. See OSA Continuum 1, 261 (2018) for an example of transparent peer review.
Authors pay Article Processing Charges (APCs) to publish in Optics Continuum. APC discounts or waivers are available to corresponding authors from qualifying low- and middle-income countries.

Transfers to Optics Continuum
Authors have the option to easily transfer manuscripts and peer review details from other Optica Publishing Group journals to Optics Continuum. The transfer option is available to the author for three weeks following certain decisions in another Optica Publishing Group journal. Transfers can be completed with or without revisions based on reviews of the original submission, although revisions are encouraged in order to expedite the next decision. When authors have already received useful peer review comments the Optics Continuum editors often prefer to see a revised manuscript before taking action. The new Optica Publishing Group Universal Template for manuscript preparation will help authors facilitate the transfer process by eliminating the need to reformat the paper. The transparent peer review option mentioned above is applicable to manuscripts that authors transfer from another Optica Publishing Group journal before peer review.
Submission Instructions
Submissions should be prepared using the Optica Publishing Group universal manuscript templates for Word files and LaTeX. Optica Publishing Group's Author Style Guide provides additional formatting instructions.
All submissions must be made using the Prism article tracking system. The following information is required during the submission process: email addresses for all co-authors, supplementary material-if applicable, funding agency name(s) and grant number(s).

Note: Authors who do not have an Optica Publishing Group account will be able to create one before beginning the submission process. Please do not create a new account if you have previous Optica Publishing Group activity.
