Optical microscope image of the junction (close to the left edge) between a ~125 μm inner diameter capillary (right) and a 70 μm core diameter fiber (left). The capillary is filled with Rhodamine 640, and 532 nm wavelength pump light is launched into the capillary from the left. A red filter is used so that the pump is removed and only the dye luminescence is seen.
