The authors (representing the University of Zurich) present a novel methodology for characterizing the Instrumental Spectral Response Function, or ISRF, of 4 models of array-type “field” spectroradiometers (all manufactured by the company ASD) from 350 nm to 2500 nm. The premise of a Gaussian model for ISRF was put to test as “the ISRF assumption was deemed the largest source of uncertainty…”

The research team performed standard calibrations on all 4 models, then applied multiple ISRF models (i.e. non-Gaussian). Tests were performed, and the results were compiled, then analyzed. Propagation of measurement uncertainty was modeled for each ISRF using a Monte Carlo method. Some data is made available to the public via the links in the paper.
