NanoSi low loss horizontal slot waveguides coupled to high Q ring resonators: Erratum

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

An erratum is presented in order to correct the values of the Q-factor measured.

©2009 Optical Society of America

We report here about a mistake made in our recent paper [1]. It consists of a wrong determination of the Q-factors of the ring resonators by improper Lorentzian fit of the experimental curves. In Fig. 3, the 3dB bandwidth is Δλ = 0.13 ± 0.02 nm and not 0.051 ± 0.01 nm as indicated in the manuscript. This corresponds to a quality factor Qfactor = λ/Δλ = 12000 ± 2000 at 1533.08 nm. The best value for a ring with R = 20 μm was found to be 14500 ± 2000. In smaller rings (R = 10 μm), Qfactor of about 15000 have been determined. These values remain among the best values found in the literature for similar size rings [2].

As a consequence, Table 2 now reads.

Table 2. Qr and αr in coupled rings (R = 20μm) with and without Si-nc at different input powers at λ = 1533nm.

These values of αr support even more strongly our hypothesis that high additional processing losses mask the role of the slot region composition in αr.

It is important to say that all other values in the paper are correct and that the main conclusions of the paper are not affected by these corrections.
