Abstract
A new method is proposed to fabricate an optical fiber extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer (EFPI) as an ultrasonic sensor. An acoustic emission detecting system was constructed and ultrasound detection experiments were done from both traditional Piezoelectric transducer (PZT) and high voltage discharge. Strong ultrasound signals were detected in both cases.
