Abstract
Measurement of tissue oxygenation is confounded by optical scattering, the effects of which can be mitigated through spatially resolved measurements. The principles of operation of a handheld tissue oximeter will be presented, including Monte Carlo optical modeling, manufacturing reproducibility, and instrument calibration.
