Abstract

A multigrid finite difference method for solving the diffusion is used to solve the forward optical imaging problem. Simulations of near-infrared imaging are presented for some simple test objects, using typical soft tissue interaction coefficients. The forward calculation used here may provide a fast method of reconstructing diagnostic optical images.
