Abstract
Crystal growth of Tm3+: Y2O3 and efficient laser operation at 1932. 1950, 2050 and 2070 nm are reported. Progress in the crystal growth process led to much more efficient laser operation under Ti:Sapphire pumping. The loss in one of the crystals is shown to be less than 1 %. A comparison of the laser perfonnance of Tm3+:Y2O3 and Tm3+: YAG is made under the same experimental conditions.
