Abstract
Continuous-wave high-power green generation at room temperature is reported in a single-pass frequency-doubling configuration with bulk periodically polled MgO: LiNbO3, placed outside of a diode end-pumped Nd: GdVO4 laser. Maximum power of 1.18 W at 531 nm with 16.8% conversion efficiency was obtained from a 2-mm-thick, 25-mm long MgO: LiNbO3; the corresponding internal green power and conversion efficiency were 1.38 W and 19.6%, respectively. By sum frequency of the fundamental and green radiations in a second periodically polled MgO: LiNbO3 sample, 47 mW of ultraviolet light at 355 nm resulted; the normalized conversion efficiency was 1.2%/W.
