Abstract
We propose a nanocoupler design which is based on spin-controlled unidirectional coupling to excite unidirectional guided modes in silicon waveguide, and the coupling directions are determined by the circular polarization states of the incident light. Simulation results indicate that the nanocoupler can have a high unidirectional coupling ratio of 12dB and a broad bandwidth of ~ 150nm, and have applications in optical communication and optical signal processing.
