Abstract
Laminar Optical Tomography (LOT) is a new technique for imaging rat cortex, combining the advantages of Diffuse Optical Tomography image reconstruction, with a microscopy-based set-up to allow imaging with 100 to 200µm resolution effective over depths of 0 to 2mm. System design and image reconstruction techniques are described, alongside phantom data and in-vivo (thinned skull) rat data identifying activation in response to forepaw stimulation and revealing different activation time-courses corresponding to different depths.
