Abstract
We have studied the optimal number of sources and detectors necessary for reconstructing optical properties within certain accuracy. A frequency domain model with 140 MHz modulation frequency is used in computer simulation. The results based on perturbation approximation have showed that the reconstructed optical properties are within 10% if the total number of detectors deployed over 9 cm by 9 cm area is greater than 13 while the total number of sources varies between 40 and 16. These simulation results will be verified by measurements.
