Abstract
An IR laser system for detection of toxic and combustible gases has been developed for petrochemical plants and offshore platforms. The scanning range of the beam, which can be up to 1 km in length, permits a complete complex to be covered with a single instrument. Another application uses the instrument mounted on an aircraft flying along a pipeline searching for gas leaks.
