Abstract
A novel multipass optical design has been used to provide a compact long focal-length telescope for laser characterization. Care was taken in this design to provide stable operation with a high SNR. The far-field laser image is focused upon a 2-D self-scanning silicon detector array camera mounted to the telescope. The image is digitized and displayed to show the far-field energy distribution. Microprocessing of the digitized image gives the beam position and divergence. Pulse-to-pulse stability is determined by storing and analyzing consecutive images.
