Abstract
The attenuation of radiation at 0.6328 μm and in the bands between 3 and 5 μm and between 8 and 12 μm has been measured as a function of rain rate. The transmission measurements are made over a 1-km folded path using a He–Ne laser transmissometer and a Barnes model 14-708 IR transmissometer. A fully automated weather station is used to collect all relevant weather parameters. Ail measurements are averaged over 1-min intervals and recorded digitally.
