Abstract

Coherent and anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy is an important spectroscopic technique, useful for fundamental studies of molecules, large and small, and for many applied problems, in particular, measurement of temperature and concentration in combustion devices such as furnaces and engines.1 Normal CARS methods are limited in application to species whose concentration is ~1 % or greater. Electronically, resonantly enhanced CARS offers the potential to extend this limit to minority species, such as chemically important radicals like OH.
