Abstract
Milliwatt-level tunable single-frequency near-UV laser beams of 1-MHz rms linewidth became available commercially in 1984 based on our introduction1 of the smooth-tuning method of angle- phase matching a doubling crystal intracavity to a ring dye laser. We report here (Fig. 1) the details of experiments where five dyes were doubled with this method to cover continuously the spectrum from 267 to 400 nm with peak outputs at 280 and 315 nm of 25 mW, 5 times the photon energy span and 5 times the doubled output power of the earlier work.1
