Abstract
High-average-power mid-IR lasers are of interest for uses involving mid-IR fibers and remote sensing. The atomic barium vapor laser (BVL) has several potentially high-average-power transitions between 1 and 5 μm; of particular interest are lines at 1.13, 1.50, 2.55, and 4.72 μm.
